It is an ideal situation for the teacher, to work with such motivated people, studying such well-written and stimulating study materials. Nearly all my experience has been with the Cambridge exams, only twice have I prepared students for the USA TOEFL exam. Some people have said that even a monkey can pass the TOEFL. I have no comment to make on this.
If you Google ‘FCE’ ( Cambridge First Certificate in English) it says: “FCE stands for First Certificate in English. It’s an upper-intermediate English language test for both written and spoken English administered by Cambridge ESOL. FCE is at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.” A bit further down it says ” A Cambridge English: First (FCE) qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.”.
If you are interested to know the differences between the Cambridge FCE and IELTS exams, I recommend taking a close look at this page here.
I have helped many students pass their Cambridge exams; FCE, CAE and CPE and also IELTS, which seems to be more suitable for students wishing to study at University and work in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
